Â鶹¹ú²úAV Leaders Share Updates With Alumni
Â鶹¹ú²úAV On The Road sessions focus on diversity and inclusion, strategic planning, and presidential search.
In a series of sessions through the fall and winter, Acting President Hugh Porter and Dean for Institutional Diversity Mary James went on the road to provide alumni with an inside look at some important campus issues, including diversity and inclusion, college priorities, and the presidential search.
Dean James explored the idea of “access” in higher education as being more than an acceptance letter, a scholarship, and a seat in a classroom. True access, she argued, is to receive the necessary inspiration and support to master disciplinary skills, acquire academic savvy, and develop a strong sense of belonging both within the Â鶹¹ú²úAV community and within one’s chosen discipline.
The cities in the “Â鶹¹ú²úAV on the Road” tour included New York, Washington, D.C., Seattle, San Francisco, and Portland.

Â鶹¹ú²úAV On The Road will resume in the spring with Alice Harra, Associate Dean of Students, and Director of the Center For Life Beyond Â鶹¹ú²úAV.
Student success in higher education extends beyond access and affordability of college. Professional development, alongside Â鶹¹ú²úAV's intellectual development, enhances students' clarity, confidence, skills, and connections to pursue work they love. Rather than a traditional career center, Â鶹¹ú²úAV's Center for Life Beyond Â鶹¹ú²úAV is focused on developmental strategies for exploring one's purpose while at Â鶹¹ú²úAV. Alice Harra, Director of Center for Life Beyond Â鶹¹ú²úAV, will share what students can do to prepare for their lives beyond Â鶹¹ú²úAV, and how Â鶹¹ú²úAV alumni are influencing every field of endeavor. Your participation will be welcome as you share your work and purpose with us, too.
